Late Saturday morning I left Atlanta and began my trek to Nashville. The highway was wide open and I was cruising. After about forty five miles I saw break lights. Suddenly traffic stopped dead! Dead for miles! The posted speed limit was 70 MPH and I was standing still. As I sat there I began to think about pithy comments for this blog. By the side of the highway there was a store "Mohawk Carpets" that had a decidedly politically incorrect logo. I chatted with the biker next to me for a bit. At least this mess might make for a humorous post. That is until the source of the delay was revealed. It was just about the most horrific accident I have seen. All three lanes were blocked and traffic being diverted along the shoulder. A mini van pulling a trailer had clearly flipped several times before coming to rest upside down. There was debris everywhere. I'm certain there was a fatality. Not a very uplifting entry to this blog but a sobering reminder that we need to respect the road and our vehicles.
